About date stamps

A date stamp records when something was received, checked, filed, paid or dispatched, and it is the workhorse of mailrooms, reception desks, clinics, warehouses and accounts departments. The usual content is a short action word or organization name plus the date itself, and often a branch, department or initials field. Our date stamp templates use a DD MMM YYYY placeholder you can rewrite to any format you prefer — DD/MM/YYYY, MM-DD-YY, or a spelled-out month.

The library has a round date stamp with the organization name curved around the top and the date across the middle, a bold rectangular RECEIVED-and-date design, a combo layout with room for a company name above the date band, and a write-in stamp with blank Date and By rules for filling in by hand. Round designs suit official-looking marks; rectangular ones pack more text into a small footprint. Every line, border and rule can be edited, moved or removed.

If you want a physical stamp with rotating date bands, take the SVG to a stamp supplier and ask for a self-inking dater — the design becomes the surrounding text and the mechanism supplies the changing date. For digital use, the transparent PNG stamps a date mark onto a scanned document or PDF, and the print-ready PDF and white-background PNG cover everything else. Designing is free; one purchase unlocks all four files.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the date format?

Yes. The DD MMM YYYY text is just an editable placeholder — replace it with any format you like, or with a fixed date.

Can I get a self-inking dater made from this design?

Yes — send the SVG to a stamp manufacturer and ask for a dater mount. They set your artwork around a rotating date band, so the date changes day to day while your text stays put.

Can I use the date stamp on scanned documents?

Yes. The transparent PNG drops onto a scan or PDF with no white box behind it, so the paper texture underneath still shows through.
